"i think the word is 'sarcasm'"

you'll see a link in the sidebar that says chat. that page is IM conversations between me and Mike. this one is different tho. i'm putting it here because he has a way of communicating things that surpasses mine sometimes.

  • saw that already.
  • *win*
  • *flexes social media muscles*
  • LOL
  • FINE
  • so you prolly saw this craigslist ad? http://i.imgur.com/SWraG.png
  • of course i had.
  • omg wth?
  • how about this? http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/2/18/838448/-Actor-with-Down-Syndrome-Puts-Palin-in-Her-Place-*UPDATE*
  • yeah. heard about that from about 9374685 places.
  • "i think the word is 'sarcasm'" is the best fucking thing ever.
  • LOL yeah
  • and i have to say, her attitude is spot on
  • basically the viewpoint that treating people who have special needs as if they are incapable of most of the same things as the rest of us is more demeaning than anything else.
  • and i actually saw some of that family guy episode
  • they weren't really mocking much at all - the part that was most hilarious about it was that she was all cultured and civilized and teaching chris in the ways of dating.
  • uh. LOL
  • Palin named her child "Trig". What an odd name! Where did she get it? "Trisomy G is the medical term for Downs Syndrome, and is often abbreviated as "Tri G"."
  • and apparently she used the term retarded to refer to her son all the time : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO_kaFjoJQQ
  • lol "more proof that someone with down syndrome is smarter and a better human being than sarah palin will even be"
  • so. i'm going to post all of what you just said on my blog. cause you're smart and i know about 9347865 people that will love you for it.
  • ?
  • and btw.
  • this tea is fucking amazing.
  • well the bottom 3 things were comments from others
  • best. tea. ever.
  • doesn't matter.
  • wait. where'd they come from?
  • digg comments
  • mine is the viewpoint that going too far with PC limits is insulting the people that you're trying to respect.
  • "retarded" is another way to say delayed or held back - it doesn't mean incapable of advancement, in reference to the likely origins of the word
  • gotcha.
  • but these people are trying to claim that individuals who are different are china dolls, not capable of handling the same things we can.
  • i just had that particular convo with ( someone at work ).
  • you know, andrea looks familiar - i think she may have been chris burke's girlfriend on life goes on or something.
  • "that's a little more articulate than someone with downs could come up with.."
  • uh.
  • 'uhm. not really. depends how they are raised, actually. you raise them to feel like they can't move beyond a certain point and they won't. teach them there are no limits and they'll accomplish a lot more. just like any person.'
  • so i'm guessing she shouldn't be a good motivational speaker either since according to that she shouldn't be able to articulate complete thoughts.
  • and yes. she was on life goes on. tho i don't know which character.
  • granted, there are marked differences depending on how high-functioning someone is
  • yeah. but to just ASSUME that someone wouldn't be that articulate without knowing anything about them is lame, imo.
  • some DS peeps are almost completely incapable of taking care of themselves at all.
  • yeah, but lots do not fall into that category.
  • however, the line of reasoning people are using on this is that ALL people with DS are low functioning and incapable, which is insulting. it's like equating everyone in the world to the dumbest trailer trash you could find. everyone doesn't happen to be the lowest common denominator.
  • i love you. just so you know.
  • oh?
  • yah. you haz a cpl smrts.
